13 เมษายน ของทุกปีเป็นวันสงกรานต์ คนไทยได้ยึดถือประเพณีอันดีงามสืบต่อกันมาแต่ โบราณกาล ถัดมาอีก 1 วันคือวันที่ 14 เมษายน ของทุกปีเป็น “วันครอบครัว” เพื่อมุ่งหวังจะให้มีการฟื้นฟูขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีแต่ดั้งเดิม

คำว่า ครอบครัว เป็นหน่วยขนาดเล็กที่สุดของสังคมแต่สำคัญ เป็นผู้สร้างและกำหนดสถานภาพ สิทธิ หน้าที่ของบุคคลอันพึงปฏิบัติต่อกันในสังคม เป็น สถาบันแห่งแรกในการถ่ายทอดวัฒนธรรมและพัฒนา ผู้ร่วมครัวเรือน คือ ปู ย่า ตา ยาย สามี ภรรยา และบุตรหลาน การที่ได้กำหนดวันครอบครัวขึ้นมา
